Aloha Family

So I guess I am writing you today. There has been a change of plans and our zlc meeting has been moved to Wednesday. President decided that we should go to the temple 1st so he moved it to Wednesday. I am excited to go to the Temple. The temple has been such a blessing thus far on my mission. It should be a good time to say the least. Excited to hear about Utah finally winning a game on the road in the pac 12. Excited to hear that they are starting to compete. Heard Loveridge is really starting to blossom as a player. I don't know if you remember back to my good old AAU days. We beat him once when he was playing on West Jordan's Freshman Sophomore team as an 8th grader, and then the next year he played for a team called the avalanche and they pretty much took us to town. I always thought he was a chump but glad to hear he is doing ok on the hill. Anyway a family from Uncle Jim's ward came to our ward yesterday so that was cool I guess. I realized last week i forgot to mention about Keanu. His Grandpa brought him to church the past couple of weeks so we have been teaching him there and he is excited to receive the priesthood so he can pass the sacrament now that he is 12 of course he first needs to be baptized so we are working on that first, but it is good to have success. Jerone is still just waiting for the family. so that is good. Good to hear Jake and Mom are coming next month. Come join the warm air club. It has been pretty hot over here this week although it has been chilly in the morning, roughly 16 degrees. Celsius of course. ;) Hope the surgery is going ok Mom hope all is well.

So Tuesday we had zone conference  Cant remember if I mentioned last week that we were going to have it. Anyway it was combined with Waipahu so elder Tausinga and I sat next to Elder Kopishke and his companion, good to see them. I got called to conduct which was interesting. The conference was nice. Everything seemed to be centered around following the spirit as we teach and getting back to the basics in the mission. I quite enjoyed it. i always do enjoy it. President just always seems to know what to say and what we need to hear to be better missionaries. After we got dinner at L&L with our member and then that was about it for the night.

Wednesday we had a good day in the morning. We taught Jerone and then did some tracting and found a new investigator. That afternoon we had to run into Honolulu and pick up some supplies for the next couple weeks. most notably a DVD  we call the Doctrine of Christ. It is about a family the sisters of the preach my gospel DVDs taught and now they have been through the temple so it is a quick 10 min video about there conversion that we are sharing with members and then seeking referrals from them. Anyway that took up a bit of time due to the bad traffic known as Honolulu.

Thursday we had a bit of a glitch We were walking out of a gate and jagged piece of metal caught my pocket and ripped my grey pants pretty good and I don't think it will be very easy to patch up. Could you possibly send another pair. I will be fine for now but I would just like a pair of charcoal or whatever its called colored pants to match my suit 44X34 just to be safe and make sure they will last. I would be happy if you could send them in the next couple weeks don't go out of your way though. Other than that I think we just tracted most of the day and visited less actives.

Friday I went on exchange again. I brought Elder Lepule's companion with me to Kapolei and we had a good day. Nothing super spectacular or any huge miracles, but we did get a chance to teach a few Hawaiian people and invite them to read. Dinner was with a white family which is always nice because we get POTATOES. I miss good old baked mashed or however else you make them. As much as I have grown to love rice I would still pick a potato over rice.

Saturday we attended a baptism in the morning for Waianae ward and then I can't seem to remember anything after that. Seems to have slipped my mind.

Yesterday was typical marathon time of church. It was high council Sunday so 2 high councilors spoke in each ward and were all given doctrine and covenants section 59 as the topic so I heard essentially the same talk 6 times although everyone had a slightly different take. After all the meetings we had the stake ward mission leader training to attend. We got asked to give a report on the yearly baptisms in the stake which went well. There was a minor dispute between the missions numbers and the stakes numbers, but we were able to resolve and come to the conclusion of 111 convert baptisms in 2011 which was just 7 off the highest year total ever in the stake. Other that that we just got numbers and then called it a week.

Hope all is well and everything is smooth again this week. Enjoy the snow while it lasts. Love you all!
Love, Elder Tripp
