Dear Family,
Life is still as good as ever over here on Molokai. We had a productive week once again. Somehow 30 lessons still manages to avoid us. We were one short once again this week. We are going to get it soon though. I just know it. I guess the big news is we have zone conference on Maui tomorrow. It was supposed to be next week, but for whatever reason got moved up to Valentines day. So the plan is to take the ferry tonight at 4 and then stay with the zone leaders tonight and tomorrow night and then catch the Wednesday morning ferry. It should be a fun time I am excited to hit my 4th island of my mission. should be a good time.
Anyway it seems kinda like an average week. Tuesday it poured super hard it was crazy, but lots of fun walking around tracting in the rain. we found lots of people to just teach little lessons this week on the street, but no one super solid, anyway that night we had a good bbq with brother Wade and his family. It was so nice to actually have a baked potato. It felt like it had been so long since I have had one.
Wednesday we had a pretty normal day of just visiting around which was nice, although it didn't rain the north winds were blowing really hard keeping it around 65 degrees all day! That feels so cold these days! ha ha I don't like that my blood is finally thinning out.
Thursday we weed-eated an older ladies yard which was pretty normal. She has some grandkids that we are beginning to teach. They have been coming to scouts and young men activities for a while and have been to church a few times as well. It looks like we may have some trouble dealing with the mom, but we are going to keep trying to help them. Thursday night we had good Hawaiian food dinner. I'm still not the biggest fan of poi, but I am coming around I think. Anyway everything else is great. I love it all. really hoping we can get some taro and ti leaf out in Utah to make some excellent pork lau lau.
Friday we headed up west end. It was too cloudy to see O'ahu, but that's ok. We had dinner up there so we spent pretty much all day. It is kinda like a small ghost type town. Apparently someone tried to make a tourist thing out of it, but it ran out of steam so there isn't really much going on up there anymore. Still lots of good members though so we visited all of them and did a little door knocking. We were going to play basketball ball on Friday night, but people were already setting up for a party Saturday night stopped that.
Saturday we got up bright and early to go play Football with the young men and then headed up to service up West end. An elderly lady needed a dump run so we took up our truck and loaded up tons of rubbish and dumped it off at the dump. We had a meeting with our ward mission leader and then knocked a few doors, before heading to the party. It was a surprise party for a lady in our ward. Her kids and Grandkids through it all together and it turned into a pretty successful luau. Lots of fun.
I guess the big thrill for me this week was church on Sunday. We had 3 investigators show up including the 2 with date so that is exciting as well as about 6 families who have been less active for a long time. They all just showed up one by one. It is so exciting when people that we visit every week that we never see at church finally decide to come. It makes everything we do as missionaries seem a lot funner and always motivates to work harder to keep them coming. So that is my good news I guess.
I guess something I forgot to mention on Wednesday was the JW came knocking on our door Wednesday morning during studies. ha ha That was a 1st we tried to do a little swap of pamphlets, but that didn't work too well unfortunately. They seemed nice enough though.
Things are going great here. Thanks for sending the brushes mom hopefully they will come today. Anyway the rain we got this week has really helped the island get green again. The Whales are jumping every morning so that is fun to eat breakfast outside and watch them jump. Rumor has it that dolphins like to swim right next to the ferry and jump so I guess we will see about that. Thanks for all your letters they are always enjoyed. Ill try to give a brief report on Maui for Geo and Kimi. Hoping to print of a cd for cheap from Maui tonight so we will see. Sounds fun to take a trip mom and dad. The work is great. I love it here more and more everyday until next time. Thanks for all your support I Love you and Aloha!!
Love, Elder Tripp
