When you live right in and out of the mission field, magic happens

Aloha everybody,

Sounds like the vacation was a success the pictures were fun to see and it sounds like everyone had a good time. Transfer calls were last night. We waited and waited, until the zone leaders finally called after 10:30 with the news that no one would be leaving Molokai. I feel really good about that. I didn't want to miss the Gomes childrens' baptism on Saturday, and I feel like there are still a few things left to do here before I leave. Elder Robbins and I are doing great and were both excited that we get to stay together for another 6 weeks. This last transfer seems to have been the quickest of my mission so we will see what this next one brings. Sorry the Email is late again. Today Elder Robbins and I decided to go on a hike up to a water fall on very east tip of the Island in the Halawa valley. It was a fairly short hike, probably took about 45 min each way. Might have to go back again sometime. Glad Benji's talk went well and hopefully the Hawaiians got off ok. I enjoyed Lucy's shaka, and Jake's picture of L&L I may be a frequent diner there.

Tuesday was the usual Tuesday I guess not too much to note I guess. Our district meeting training was on helping our investigators progress towards baptism so that was good I guess. I remember We had a good lesson with our dinner about answered prayers. Lots of stories were shared about them and the spirit was super strong.

Wednesday we had a good lesson with the Gomes Children. It was a nice lesson about the word of wisdom and tithing. They filled out some Tithing slips right at the end of the lesson which was super solid. They are doing awesome and are so ready for Saturday. That afternoon we did some tracting and I accomplished a new 1st. I got my very 1st dog bite of my mission. It was nothing too bad, just a demon ankle biter dog that as we walked past it to knock on the door it growled and bit my foot. The teeth didn't go through  though. I just kicked him off and ran away. I counted it as a win for me. Anyway no one ended up being home at the house which was kinda a bummer. Dinner was good Wednesday night as well. It was chicken katsu which is a favorite of mine.

Thursday I woke up and felt certain I was leaving Molokai. It just seemed like that was the plan. Glad it wasn't true :) anyway we did lots of service til about 2 in the afternoon. It was productive for sure. Service I have found is a great way on this island to get into people's houses to share with them. They are so grateful for help and more than happy to let us share a little bit. Bro Kelley is always great at setting it up with people he knows and lets them know what we do and why we do it.

Friday we met with the Gomes again as well and watched with them the restoration movie. They mentioned the peace that they felt as they watched it.  Our new phones came in Friday which was nice. Now we have service pretty much everywhere on the island instead of just a few spots like before. We didn't catch a ton of people home which was mildly disappointing, but we did get to drive out to Mo'omomi beach for dinner. We had chicken and stew for dinner, and then roasted smores over the fire for dessert. Pretty good time. It was hard not to go run in the water ha ha.

Saturday we had a YM missionary activity of flag football which was well attended. The whole island was gathered up in our area for a Hawaiian Homestead party/swap meet deal. It was a good place to check out for a bit. That afternoon we did more weed whacking and lawn mowing for more less active and non members. Elder Robbins and I are getting better and better and doing good quality jobs for people which is nice. The weather was kinda crappy in the evening with some rain and strong winds.

Yesterday we had 5 investigators at Church for the 3rd time in 4 weeks which is awesome. We are so close with lots of our investigators and they are coming consistently  We are hoping they come on Saturday and feel the spirit and would like to make those same covenants with Heavenly Father. It was mildly stressful not knowing what was in store for me. We went and just visited a few people including the Apuna's for a an hour before going home. They told me to call as soon as I found out. They were still up that late because their son Koal who is 12 hrs different in South Africa emails them around midnight. I was glad I could call with good news.

Sorry there wasn't too much to report on this week. I am good on medicine mom. Sorry i forgot to mention that. I will be out in about 3 weeks though if you would like to send more then. So I guess this means I will be calling for Mothers day from here as well. I am looking forward to that. I hope all is well back home. How is my CD coming Natalie? no rush just curious. Hope your move home is smooth. Hope all is well in Gville and Salt Lake and Kaneohe. The pictures are from our hike today, hope you enjoy. Love you all! Aloha!
                   Love, Elder Benjamin Tripp
