Hello Again Everyone

Hey everybody,

How are you all? I'm doing good. It's crazy that my birthday is tomorrow. A package came Saturday, but the post office was closed when we checked mail so I figured I would wait til today and get it this morning, but I forgot today was labor day. So it looks that by default I will have to wait til my birthday to get it ha ha. Sounds like the Utah game was kinda lame for the last half and sounds like they packed it in a little. Hopefully they will be ready to bounce back in the Colosseum and then down south with Byu. Disappointing for Utah State it sounded like, but I was pumped to hear the LSU started off great. Geaux Tigers! :)
Monday last week we went into Hilo and got an oil change. We planned to go play basketball after, but they ended up changing the brakes as well so we only played for about 40 min and then we headed back to Ka'u. The traveling assistants to the president were on big island last week so we took Elder Wise with us for Monday night and then returned him to Hilo Tuesday night. He was a really cool guy who is going home in 3 weeks. He went to viewmont and said he had a few classes with Wes, so that was cool.

Tuesday we hung around Ka'u, because of zone conference on Friday, we didn't have district meeting. We started up in ocean view and tracted a little. Eventually we went to Pule Taetuna's, he is the Samoan who is really doing awesome bringing his whole family to church. It turns out that Elder Wise had taught him is Kona, so that was a cool little reunion. As the day wore on we headed closer and closer to Hilo. We visited a few less actives and tracted a little in pahala, which is the farthest north town of our area. Around 5 we headed to Hilo, and since it was the end of the month I had to use a little money off my home card for a light snack, so that's why there was a charge if you noticed.

Wednesday was our usual ocean View day. We set up some appointments, that all went good, except for Pule's son Tui, who ended up going fishing for the day which was kind of disappointing. The work is progressing, which is good. We had a good dinner at the Naboa's house, which is always awesome. It makes me look forward to Wednesdays ha ha.

Thursday was our typical week plan day. We got our plans set for this week which was good. It took up most of our morning though. Thursday night and afternoon, we spent in Discovery Harbor. We picked up 2 new investigators there which was good. I think they are fairly solid, we didn't see them at church so tomorrow hopefully we will figure out why, and then resolve the concerns. About 5 o'clock ( 9 Utah time) at double rainbow appeared, and I decided that must be a good sign that Utah had won. :) That night we prepared talks for zone conference. All the Elders had to prepare a talk and President Dalton would randomly select a couple to give theirs so I figured I better prepare a little just in case.

Friday was Zone Conference. It was awesome, for sure the highlight of the week. It really helped me be a better missionary. I felt like all the training was direct completely to my needs, which really strengthened my testimony that God truly is our loving Heavenly Father, and he knows everyone of us personally. It was up in the North Part of the island in Waimea, so it was about a 2.5 hour drive up Kona side to get there. It was a combined zone conference with the Kona elders too, which just so happens to be where Elder Bleazard is. It was good to see him, He is still the same old Max. It was also neat to see the Elder Toloa, from Samoa, He came to Hawaii with me, and although we had just met at the mission home, it was good to see him and chat with them again, and see he was doing good too. Elder Toloa is a really cool guy so that was way fun. Conference went til about 5, so we didn't do much Friday night, although we did stop and take a few pictures at the Kona Temple, and had a good dinner at L&L. :)

Saturday we just tracted for the most part. We didn't have much success until just before dinner. We had decided we would do one more street, before we headed to dinner. We happened to tract into a young couple who was outside doing yard work. They invited us to dinner on Thursday, and want to learn about "our secrets". Apparently they had heard that we believe families can be together forever, and they want to know how they can do that. Their friends (non members) had suggested to them to have missionaries over for dinner, and then we could teach them. So that's what happened. We are planing on going over Thursday at 5 and hopefully they will come to know the truth of our message. It definitely made my day though. It was just so cool to see someone be that excited to learn about our church, that wasn't a referral from members. We went to To'afa's house for dinner, and talked football for a bit, so that was good that I could stay up to date at least a little bit. They are all big BYU

Sunday we taught Max again. He came out to visit Leah, his girlfirend, for labor day. He said he had talked to the missionaries on Oahu, but he didn't really understand them, since they were both Micronesian. Anyway he said he wants to be baptized out here, since he feels most at home in Ka'u ward, although he wont be back til about thanksgiving, so I probably wont be around then, but its still cool to see him make the steps to baptism. :)

Thanks for all you guys do for me, and for the emails and birthday wishes. It should be a good one hopefully. Thanks for the money for L&L mom, have you guys tried it yet? Anyway, I Love you guys! and Aloha!
                                                            Love, Elder Tripp
