Hey what up family!
Things are going great! Especially Saturday. I was for sure aware of the game. I heard it was 14-10 Utah at halftime, and it sounded to me like BYU was causing their own troubles, and that Wynn was possibly hurt? Anyway We ate Dinner at Toafa's and that is when we saw the final. Needless to say I felt a little bad. I did happen to see the last fumble recovery and noticed that the BYU student section in the endzone was empty and those remaining were sitting down (SAD :( ), so that was cool to see the great game the defense played, but I did take it easy on the fans at church yesterday.
Anyway that wasn't the best part of Saturday, although it was great Icing to the Cake. Saturday morning we had a great ward project in the ward garden. We are starting to do it every other week. We got a good turn out especially from less actives. I think it helps them to feel needed in the church, and make good friends which are 2 of the 3 things President Hinckley said every convert needs to become strong members, so that was a good way to start. After that we had a baptism. She is 8 so she isn't a convert baptism, but her sister is 12 and unbaptized so she felt the spirit strong and we have an appointment this week with her so hopefully things will lead to baptism for her too :) Almost right after the baptism we received a call from President Dalton, he said he wanted us both on the phone- He called Elder Wilson to be a district leader over on Oahu somewhere, we aren't sure exactly because you don't find out where you are transfered to until you get on the plane Wednesday morning, and then if you go to Oahu you have to wait until the transfer meeting. After that I was called to be a trainer or in missionary slang a "daddy". Definitely a shocker. It is humbling for sure and I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous, but I know it is going to help me learn lots and help me grow in all phases of the gospel. Elder Mortenson who we met at the temple and Elder Hansen who I met on facebook are coming out this transfer, so who knows maybe one will be coming on down to Ka'u. The mail that afternoon had my trainer packet. New this transfer, all missionaries will be trained for 12 weeks instead of 6(So I'll be in Ka'u until atleast Dec 14th) and get an extra hour of companionship everyday but P-day. There is a pretty solid set of lesson to specifically go over, and looking through them I know they are going to help me A LOT too! Lots of time to practice teaching each other and inviting to keep commitments which will be good. I know as we are exactly Obedient the lord will bless us and we will see the miracles.
Just a side note we have labeled this next month as "Obedient October" I had 5 weekends and as a mission we are shooting for 120+ baptisms this month. The mission hit 100+ in May and August which is the 1st time the mission has had more than 100 since 2006 or somthing and it has never had more than 109 as far as we have record. I know that as we are obedient and strieve to be the best missionaries we can be We will see the Miracles, and Heavenly Father will help us accomplish our goals.
Yesterday church was pretty awesome. We found out Max is going to be flying out in the end of October and is going to be baptized. Awesome! Plus we taught a less active family and invited the 10 yr old daughter to be baptized which she accepted for the 15th. Also Awesome! Also she has a cousin who is 12 who wants to be baptized, That would make 3 so far for October. Which is out goal for October, but I know there is still plenty of time to find more. :) The Hilo Zone goal is 18 which is the highest the zone has ever had so If we can all just get 2 and 3 companionships get 3 we will get 20 so the goal is out there, now its time to go out and get it!
For the rest of the week- Nothing really special happened, but we taught 16 lessons to investigators and less actives which was good. Dinners were great and I'm really starting to click really well with the members and they are getting excited about missionary work. Talk is starting about building a church in Ocean View and a ward split which would be really cool. Chruch attendance has been above 110 the last month, and so that is awesome. It is hard not to be positive about the next 3 months. For the 1st part of this week Elder Wilson is going to say goodbye to the members and then he will leave about 6 on Wednesday morning, and then the new companion will probably arrive in Hilo around 4 after all the meetings he will go to Wednesday. I'm so excited and can't wait for the coming up weeks. I have already noticed how powerful prayer is. The Holy Ghost is powerful, and helps comfort as well as teach and inspire thoughts I need at exactly the time I need to learn and teach them.
The Church is true! I know through the teachings of the gospel we can find true happiness not only in this life, but for eternity! I love you guys can't wait to hear from you again! :) ALOHA! Talk you Bombai (later)
Love, Elder Tripp!
