Great way to start "Obedient October"

Hey all,
Things went pretty good down south this week. We picked up 2 new investigators and had some quality lessons which was nice. Sounds like Utah had a few problems, whatever happened to Robles or the baseball kid? Disappointing to hear that it wasn't the best turn out. It is really cool hearing about Gville though.

Things were pretty normal Monday to Thursday just a few good lessons, and lots of tracting. We set up the details for Max's baptism on the 29th which is going to be really cool! We also are now working with a girl who has been coming to church lots in the past 3 months, but hasn't really been interested in being baptized, We are going to teach her this coming up Wednesday and we are going to commit her to the 22nd, I know that she is ready, we just need to help her see that she is ready. Good thing we have the Spirit to guide, right?

Friday, we got up at 6am to head to Kona for the temple. We left our pad at around 7:15. We had the Kea'au Elders sleep over Thursday night so that was good to have them along with us for the hour and a half drive around the South tip of the Island to Kona. The road is really narrow and curves a lot which isn't my favorite thing to drive, but we made it safely and even had 15 min to stop at McDonald's for breakfast. Our session started at 10am, but President Dalton wanted everyone there by 9am to make sure we would all be ready and not cause any extra trouble for the temple workers. The spirit was AMAZING, it was such a good experience and I am so glad we are going to start going quarterly instead of just twice a year, as long as I am on big island or Oahu. It for sure got me in the mood for conference.

I guess in Hawaii they don't like having a morning and afternoon session. ;) it wasn't the funnest getting up at 5:15am, to get the church ready for the EARLY morning session. It was really good though I enjoyed all the sessions greatly especially all the talks about missionary work. We did a zone fast that morning which made it extra spiritual. It was super crazy having Priesthood session at 2. It was awesome Elder Holland's talk was especially awesome!! I was so pumped! I wanted to just go chest bump Bishop Oyama and go out and do work. The talk right after was also good on missionary work.

Sunday, we had conference and had 3 investigators come watch conference at the church and than another one watched at home so that was cool. We took Pule with us to go teach a Thai woman who we just ran into last week. Pule usually just chills while we teach, but this time he started talking to her, and they really clicked both speaking English as a 2nd language, and their cultures seemed to be similar. Pule then bore a super strong testimony about the church and how the missionaries had always offered to teach him and he always told them he was busy, but when he finally let them teach him he knew without a doubt it was true. The Spirit filled the room, and it drove Linn to tears. She told us that the message we shared sounded so familiar, but she didn't know where she had heard it. She said she wasn't ready to be baptized, but we will keep working with her and help her progress.

I just love being a missionary more and more everyday. It truly is an amazing experience that you really can't explain, but it truly is the best 2 years of life. Can't wait to see what October brings. Thanks for all the prayers and support. I love you all. Aloha!!

                         Love, Elder Tripp
