Aloha family!
NO!!! "Honey badger" can't be gone :( darn thats no good for LSU hopefully Utah can just have a super exciting season so I don't have to completely fall on LSU for some excitement. Tatiyanas papa is brother Lapara, but they are also a nice family. It is kinda fun to see how small the world can be. Anyway the baptism didn't go through this week because of various reasons the main one being it was Flag day this weekend. I'm not quite sure what the reason for the holiday to begin but the Samoans go all out the whole weekend and have lots of dancing and sports so it just didn't work to have a baptism. However we did schedule for this Saturday and she has been interviewed and everything so it should got forward. Good to hear Eli did a great job. I am excited for him and its good to hear Cuff is still doing ok. I met a kid at Costco the other week who played baseball at Suu and knew lots of Gransville kids including Cuff which was kinda fun. I heard this week that Molokai hot bread was shut down by the health department. So that is kinda disappointing. Anyway glad to hear everyone's week went well. I would probably choose a 17.5 neck but I think 18 would be alright too so whatever is easier. I prefer the collar stays instead of the buttons. like the ones we got at Penny's
So Tuesday we spent a good part of the day running around trying to make preparation for our baptism. It was this day that we realized that it wasn't going to work. the climax was when we went to do the interview and no one was home haha. Mildly frustrating but it is good everything worked out for the better. I feel a lot more confident with this week.
Wednesday I brought Elder Takahashi with me. He is Japanese and lots of fun. He is just always so happy and excited. He English isn't great and he has a really thick accent so I really have to listen to understand him but he is lots of fun. We had some success finding less actives home and he found a new investigator for us. He knew of a Samoan man when he was serving down in Honolulu so we went and taught him and said we could come back. I would say that is some success.
Thursday Elder King had a regular doctors appointment in the afternoon. That evening we had a good lesson/dinner with a non member family. They seemed happy to hear the message, although not ready to act on it so we will see. It was still very nice of them to feed us so much. Thursday night we had a little trouble. As we came back to our car from dinner it turned out somehow we had a nail in our tire and it was completely flat. Luckily we had a spare and got that on for the rest of the night.
Friday was district leader meeting, and then we had to go to Firestone to get a tire replaced. Once we got there they decided our other front tire needed work and we should get an oil change as well. I had them call Elder Scott to get permission and they did what they wanted. It took forever though so that took a most the afternoon. We popped into the festivities for our dinner and caught some of the Cricket tournament and dancing and of course good food :)
Saturday may have been the longest day of my mission. Not necessarily because it was bad, it just seemed to drag on forever. We taught 5 lessons which was good, but it just seemed like time stood still. We also went to a baptism for Lanakila ward and brought along the family thinking about going to Lanakila so that was successful as well. They are still up in the air for what they want to do so we will see.
Yesterday we had 2 returned missionaries come home. The sister missionary served in the same mission as a kid on Molokai so that was kinda cool I guess. Just the sister spoke, but she just gave a "testimony" since she was really speaking in 2 weeks and wanted to give the high councilor some time. It was mildly dramatic but good. Other than that not much happened of note. Sorry my email is short again. I'm sure next week will be a little longer with transfer information and stuff. Hope all is good back home I love you all!
Love, Elder Tripp
