Man crazy week. Lots of good so far. Sorry for forgetting to tell you last week that we were going to the Temple today so it was our P day and we probably wouldn't have time to Email yesterday. Things went well this week. We did end up teaching Teisha the Palagi girl's friend. She accepted to set a goal for September 29, she told us she still needs to gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon, but she wants it to be true, and if it is she would love to be baptized. so that was positive. Thanks for the Pants they fit great I have determined I guess with the waist being bigger it makes the length just a little longer so 34 is probably what I really need from now on, but I found some Iron on Stuff to make my own alteration that is holding up great. The Temple pants came last night which was good so I could take them to the temple this morning.
So I last emailed on Tuesday not a whole lot ended up happening due to Email took a while as the library was pretty busy.
Wednesday we spent lots of time going after some less actives. We ended up finding a part member family who seems some what interested so I guess we will see how it goes this week.
Thursday was my Birthday. Thanks so much for all the wishes and what nots. I loved it all. I got a call Thursday afternoon that I had a fed ex package at the office. The office can't forward stuff fed ex for free so the options are usually to wait for someone like the zone leaders to go pick it up and bring it to you or have them take the price of shipping it to you off your card. Since we are in the Samoan ward however we are allowed to go the office since we don't have to leave our area to be there. So we went and grabbed it and some Commissary as well. Sister Smiley (office Senior Missionary) made me open it right there and I told her I hoped it wasn't a BYU shirt. She agreed that would be a bad choice. We all thought it was a nice gift so thanks Natalie. That night we took the Lanakila Elders with us to Pizza Hut Buffet to celebrate and then Elder King did a baptismal interview for them. Not a bad birthday.
So Friday was Great and lame at the same time. We had one of the ZLs with us just for the day and we got some solid referrals from members that I will talk about in a bit. They also fed us well. I didn't realize how big of meals we really eat until I noticed how much Elder Hammond struggled to finish one plate. Anyway so I figured since everything was going so well Utah had to be playing well. Anyway, so we head down to dinner and our member makes sure to have the game on and told us he refused to turn it off. darn! anyway I tried not to watch too much but we got there just In time to see my boy Joe Kruger, I played against him at a BYU basketball camp, get ejected and Utah st score. I saw Hayes throw the nice pass to Scott to score and then saw the heartbreak of overtime. :( probably the right call but some home cooking probably was stirring. Just make up for it this week, bummer on Wynn wish him the best.
Saturday I went on exchange with a new elder who has been out 2 weeks. I brought him into our area and honestly it was a bit of a challenge. He has some trouble with Pride and wanting to tell everyone the right way to do missionary work. We got through it though and saw some good lessons so that was positive. Hopefully he will catch on fire and get going.
Sunday was awesome. We saw a lady who we have pretty much been begging to come to church and Teisha came ready to be taught some more so that was super exciting. It is always a joy to see people keep their commitments. I got asked last minute to give a 5-10 min talk with the high councilor. went ok I guess well I hope at least. I did it in English so hopefully the older uncles and aunties understood at least some thing I said. Also a family in our ward invited a less active husband to bring his whole family to church and they came! Also the whole family wants to be baptized so we have their number and are going to follow up with them. He told the ward he was really active in Samoa but fell away when he moved here, happens more than you would think. anyway he is excited to be back especially with his family. :)
Yesterday we followed up with the referral we got Friday and it was almost exactly the same as Teisha She is almost as solid except we didn't get to set a date for baptism that's ok though plenty of time for that right?
It was nice to hear about Drew's mom and all my friends. If you get a chance please tell Sandbergs I miss them and I have been meaning to write them for quite a while I just get busy, but I plan to either today or next P day. Also I will email Krista probably next week since I am running low on time but I would love to be a part of it. Anyway the temple was great today it is a special treat to head up to Laie and go. Thank everyone for their birthday wishes I assume there are some on facebook I won't see, but thank them anyway ha ha. Go Utes!!! Let me know if there is anything I can do for anyone. I truly feel the work here is about to take off and I am excited to hang on for the ride. Love you all I know the Church is True, 15 months already gone, crazy! Love you all and Aloha!!
Love, Elder Tripp
