Yo hows it? Mom I could use some medicine whenever you can send it would be nice. I still have some but I am low. Glad your birthday was good Mom. Happy everyone had a good time last night. Congrats Jake on the big win. Hmm is BYU swallowing a little pride with the Anae hire? I have heard BYU is possibly going back to the MWC. Are they possibly trying to forget that the last 2 years even happened ha ha Anyway things have been smooth. Sounds like it has been freezing in Utah. We have had to have a few not so fun talks zone leaders some times have to have with companionship this week, and our miracle investigator has pushed his baptism back to February so his Mom can be there. he grew up in the church when he was little, but his family split before he was 8 and then his whole family fell away and he got into drinking, but he is so solid now. but other than that it has been a good week.
So funny story of the week happened on Monday. So Elder Tausinga and I white washed into Makakilo and Palehua ward, so we are still figuring out who people are. Anyway for our dinner we were planning on just going and picking up our dinner and heading back to be with the other Elders so we weren't in our missionary clothes. The lady gives us fairly vague directions to find the house. She told us to take a few turns and then we would find a white tent on in front of a white house and that would be them. So we followed the directions EXACTLY as given to us and sure enough there was a big white tent in front of a white house. A few people we drinking but other than that things were ok. So we went they welcomed us right in. We weren't exactly sure what who we were supposed to find so we just went with it. They had us pray and and then we grabbed our food and jumped out. So we found out yesterday that we went to the wrong house and that they had huge plates waiting for us. Oops! just kinda crazy I guess, Makes me wonder whose house we went to. They still recognized we were elders even without clothes so who knows. The rest of the night we just cruised with the zone. Fireworks were awesome. We could see the whole Island pretty much. Ewa beach were the best ones for us since they were the closest, but there were plenty.
New Years day we just cruised with our Bishop in Kapolei's family for the morning. One of their sons was leaving on a mission to Vegas that night so we went to say goodbye and good luck. That afternoon and evening we headed over to a party in the Tongan branch which was fun. I forgot how much they eat. It was all good though. Other than that it was a pretty quiet day.
Wednesday we had district meeting which was nice. President Dalton called us that afternoon and wanted us to check everyone's pad for a working smoke detector. he told us he was worried about them and that it was urgent so we spent our afternoon driving across the zone looking for them. We are good except one pad doesn't have one and two didn't have batteries. For dinner we had Mexican with some member which was good.
Thursday day started out good, and then kinda fizzled due to a fight in the zone, but the afternoon was way productive. We found some good investigators and hopefully have some potential for the end of the Month or Early February. Ao that should be good and exciting for sure.
Friday for lack of a better word we took a "field trip" up to the North shore. Elder Tausionga finally got an appointment with a doctor up in Laie just to check if there was anything serious going on. We headed up around 1 after lunch and made the hour long trek. It was a fun drive. We stopped on the way up for some quick Pineapple ice cream from the Dole place and then stopped at Kahuku High for some quick photos before hitting the doctor. He gave Elder tausinga some pills for post nasal drip or something like that hoping to clear it up. Anyway on the way home we hit up Matsumotos to complete the trip. That night we found a new guy who said he was interested in baptism and we committed him for February so we will see how that turns out as well.
Saturday I was over in the Samoan ward on exchange with Lepule. that was lots of fun. We went around with some Samoan members to lessons so I didn't participate a ton with them mostly just smiled and laughed ha ha. We got fed everywhere we went though. I always enjoy that.
Yesterday was good. With the new year a new ward has been added to our building so we have church at 8 and at 2 so we get the 1st and the last as well as one between. Kinda makes for a long day but it was good. Testimony meeting is always good. Anyway that is about it. I hope everything continues to go good. There are 2 Elder Packers in the mission. One came out with me and the other is a transfer behind. both are good elders though so that's cool i guess small world. Anyway love you all
Love, Elder Tripp
