Elder Tripp had a little lamb.....for dinner every day

Well Family, Talofa,

Pretty busy week, although not as much got done missionary work wise as I would have hoped, but we still had some good experiences. We took a trip to the temple on Tuesday and had a few other things get in the way the rest of the week, but it was still productive. One of things that sticks out most was dinner this week. We had lamb 4 times I think just prepared differently. Kind of an experience I guess. I guess I could be with the Tongans and eating horse and donkey instead. ha ha Anyway good to hear things are going good out in Utah. Thanks for your advice Geo. They said they found a way to get a 14 day pass, but they weren't sure they could get another in 2 weeks so thanks for at least checking into it. Anyway lets see what I can remember.

So Monday after emailing we had some appointments to get to. I forgot to mention we were going to the temple Tuesday last week. So on those weeks our pday is Tuesday instead of Monday  but we can still email. Anyway we had a few people from Bishop Mamea to see. We tracked them down, although it was fairly tricky because the building number was wrong, but we still found them. They were doing well which was good. Monday night we had dinner with the Aumua family. They lived in West Valley for about 30 years and the kids went to Granger high so that was kind of cool. Sister Aumua went to West, which reminded me of Grandpa. They fed us lamb chops and corned beef. It was really good and there was plenty as usual. I don't know if I will keep eating spam when I get home, but I for sure plan to keep corned beef in my diet. :)

Tuesday was temple day. We headed up to Laie for the 9 o'clock session. It was really nice. I guess the one negative of Molokai is we can't go to the temple there, but anyway, after we aren't allowed to eat anywhere that missionaries get free food (Pretty much all of Laie) so we just headed back home and grabbed some Costco pizza. After we played laser tag at the dole cannery which was a fun activity I thought. Dinner was up in Wahiawa Tuesday night so that was a bit of a drive but well worth it. We had lamb lau lau which doesn't quite get me as excited as pork lau lau, but it was still excellent.

Wednesday was originally planned to be interview day with President Dalton. We were supposed to show up at 12 and we waited and waited until 2:30 we found out it was rescheduled for Sunday. After that Elder King had a dentist appointment to get to so that took up a good part of our day. Dinner Wednesday ended up at a place called Teddy's bigger burgers. Members gave us some money and suggested it so we tried it out. It was pretty good, kinda like Fudruckers. I would probably go back sometime.

Thursday we were at KPT for a large part of the day. We followed up with some potentials and and formers. We have been teaching a lady named Losa for a few weeks now, and when we went by Friday we found her Book of Mormon open. She told us she had been reading and really enjoys it and wants to know more so that is always exciting. We will have to see how that goes. She mentioned she is going to Samoa soon and wants to take us so we can learn the language mo bettah. ha ha We also had an exchange Thursday night and since we all 4 of us wanted the heat to win we bought some sparkling cider to celebrate the big win. Kinda fun I guess.

Friday was exchange day. Elder King sure likes to schedule lots of exchanges  Anyway I headed back over to Pearl Ridge again. Not a fan of walking areas. especially the kind that have lots of hills and stuff to make sure we get our exercise in. Anyway it was a good change of pace I guess, I got to at least take a break from talking lots of broken English and Samoan Pigeon.

Saturday was typical Saturday  We always joke when we read in the handbook and and it says weekends are great because people are usually home, for Hawaii we substitute home with beach. It is extremely hard to catch people home on Saturdays, but that is a good way to find the elect. The ones that are home seem to be more receptive, not quite sure why that is. Saturday night dinner was in Kaneohe, and after we headed over waimanalo side to make some visits. We passed Bellows and a Honda Odessy was pulling out. It wasn't George though ha ha. darn.

Yesterday was stake conference. It was weird to have English speakers, although 2 were from our ward so that was different. I guess to answer your question Jake, about how much Samoan do we teach in. Everybody usually speaks some English although some better than others. I tends to be the older people are the less English they speak.  We teach really simple in English if they don't understand much, I like to great them in Samoan and say a few phrases through the lesson and read in Samoan scriptures and then explain in English  Anyway after stake conference we had interviews down at the Tabernacle. I always enjoy talking with President for a few minutes. He is a great mission president and leads us well. I am grateful for him. I am glad the week went well and Dad is back on the city council. Sounds fun Anyway I love you all Aloha.
Love Elder Tripp
