So things are pretty crazy in the mission at this point. Official transfer plans are not in however I have heard some rumors and talked briefly to President, so here is what I do know. So around 7 last night President Dalton called me to extend a calling as district leader in the Kona zone in Waimea 1st ward. I am pretty excited about that. I am going to be sad to leave all my Samoan friends here, but Waimea is a super nice area in North Kona that is right in the shadow of Mauna Kea. It is where we always had zone conference back in my Ka'u days. It sounds like the work is good there and my companion should be fairly nice. It sounds like I will be replacing Elder Robbins who was my companion on Molokai. I was hoping he was going to stay but he seems to be going to Kauai as ZL, I'm excited for him. However last night at 10:30 the assistants called the zone leaders to say transfers were not ready yet and they would hopefully get them to us this afternoon. Rumors are some changes are being made. I assume President would have called again if things changed for me, but I guess we will see how it shakes out. I guess we will see. Anyway kinda bitter sweet to leave but I am excited. I have learned a lot here and there have been lots of challenges like getting eaten alive by bed bugs, and sleeping on a couch for 4 months so change is nice. Mom asked about Pule to follow up We headed over there the Monday night I heard he was in the hospital and it turns out they had released him that morning deciding they didn't need to do what they planned on so that was good kinda sad not to see him but I'm glad he is ok.
This week seems to have slipped by I'll see what I can remember. Tuesday we had our lesson with Pauline fall through. I guess she has had some family in from Samoa for the day. We did spend some time visiting less actives getting our faces stuffed with lots of that meadow gold punch straight sugar punch and any other snack cakes or chips they could find for us. Gonna miss that kinda stuff although I'm sure there are great members everywhere.
Wednesday was kinda a tender mercy. We had stopped at McDonald's to use the bathroom before heading to an appointment and as we walked to our car someone yelled out my name, well it was Ka'ulu Apuna from Molokai who is going to school at Kamehameha School just up the road. It was cool to talk briefly to her and here how the family was doing. Man I miss them and that wonderful Island. That night we made a couple visits in Palolo Valley and then headed around the point on our way to Waimanalo. It was clear enough to see Molokai as we drove past the light house.
Thursday seemed to slip away as well. not quite sure what happened. I think we headed out west to Waipahu to visit a few people on our ward list. We don't usually go over there since there is a Samoan ward in Waipahu, but we were hoping to meet them and see what they wanted their records to go. We struck out going 0-3. Happens sometimes.
Friday we mostly hung around Kalihi valley we had a lesson with the family who the wife and kid were going to get baptized and then there was a fall out. It was good to be back with them sharing the gospel. They really are a wonderful family. The Dad even sat in which made it extra special. I think if he gets excited things might move forward with them so I guess we will see.
Saturday was road show day in the stake. It was a BLAST!!! Not going to say I had a leading role or nothin but the Samoans took it to the stake. Bustin some MEN IN BLACK missionary style every one wore missionary apparel and they was a soft plot but mostly we just knocked out the room with some STYLE!!! OK so maybe that was a little over dramatic but it went well and was such a fun night. We got lots of less actives and investigators out and it was well attended throughout the stake.
Yesterday I kinda had a feeling that I might be the one rolling out so I made sure to share my testimony with the ward and see how things went. We got asked last minute to teach young mens with no manual or anything so Elder King and I made up this scripture chase/ hangman game from the Book of Mormon and it ended with the 3 groups all role playing Nephi getting the brass plates. I thought it went over well and we still managed to have the spirit so I called it a success.
Sorry it is short. I am sure I'll have lots to share next week depending on how things go. It was good to hear from Natalie this time around. Sounds like Florida was fun. Congrats on the house Jake. I saw the newspaper this morning that Utah was 13 pt under dog but has been changed to 12 must mean people might think Utah has a shot. It should be a fun game. Just want to say I am grateful for all the experiences here good and bad. I feel like Elder King and I even though we had some rough patches the 1st 2 transfers seemed to understand each other a little better this last one. So that is positive. I love you all thanks for all the many blessing you give to me! You are the best family ever. I have learned here in Hawaii that not everyone gets to grow up in a stable family with both parents and loving siblings and am grateful to you all I got that chance and that we can share this gospel together! ALOFA and ALOHA
