Business as Usual

Aloha Family,

Sounds like things went well this week. Here and over there. I have been running into a fair amount of Ka'u connections and Molokai as well. A few of the ward members from Molokai were at the temple the past couple of weeks and I have just happened to be at the stake center, right next to the temple, when they were there. That's always fun. I am trying to figure out how to find a way back down to Ka'u before I leave here although it will be tricky since it isn't in our zone so I will probably need some permission. Anyway I got a letter from Pule and his son and daughter in law Tui and Stephanie. They were baptized just a couple weeks after I left and I had been teaching them pretty frequently. It was nice to hear from them and that they were all doing well even Pule was well despite the past medical trouble. They are for sure right there at the top of people I need to come back and see Pronto!! as well as Apunas for sure and some others. Save my money right? :)
Glad to hear about Utah :) bummer about LSU :( cried myself to sleep. I got a text saying about 2 min left looks like LSU will run out the clock. It all changed about 5 min later. Big bummer life goes on though right? Glad you are situated Jake. Hope things continue to go good. Natalie Saddle road is pretty solid. You mentioned about the stars by the Kona side of Saddle road. I live about 8 min from the saddle road so I can relate. It is always so dark on the outer islands at night compared to O'ahu, I like it though. Thanks for keeping by peeps posted. I know people have to be interested at whats on my mind right? ;) anyway so quick story last Monday night we were picking up some pizzas with a member for FHE and I ran into Naboa's son. his first exclamation was " man I knews you look dis kine some day with all da food yous pound at our hale" with the typical belly rub I have become so accustom to. I think i am going to start wearing a shirt "free belly rubs, Yes it's that big!!" ha ha I love thick Hawaiian pigeon accents. Its a whole 'nother language. News on the kidney stone, I have been faithfully straining looking for it to come but it still hasn't to my knowledge at least. I am headed back to Hilo tomorrow at I believe the plan is to do an x-ray and see if it is still in or what. Hopefully things will resolve and the saga will end, although it has been quite the ride I guess.  Mom mentioned something last week about Elder Kopishke in g-ville. I have heard of his brother and he is in Waipahu right now but I have never met him.

So Tuesday was district meeting. It was notable because it was the 5th week of the transfer and it was the 1st real training I have had to give due to the zone leaders doing the 1st 2 zc was the 3rd and the previous week I had the doctor. Anyway it went good. It was about being sanctified all the time. I pulled off the old object lesson of having elder Vaikeli brushing his teeth and then using a whole tube of tooth paste. So he doesn't need to brush his teeth for a month because he did so much now. Likened it to the spirit that we always have to be worthy and striving for the spirit all the time and we can't just bank on all our past studies and good deeds. After we went and checked up on Max and a few other recent converts.

Wednesday the zone leaders came up in the morning to do a half zone flood in Waimea 2 area. I went with Elder Carrel and we did some tracting. Wasn't too successful with everyone getting ready for Halloween but it was a good time to chat with Elder Carrel and search out some new people for Waimea 2. We went to lunch after and had a good time. We stopped work at 4 for the night and headed down to Kona for the Kona wards' Halloween party it was nice, we played basketball after until 9 and then ended up staying the night with the zone leaders. It was good to get to chat with Elder Carrel some more. We just seem to click well. He went to the U as well before the mission and we figure we have to have ran into each other at some point before, anyway he will be a good friend for after. He is 3 months behind me.

Thursday was a typical day not a whole lot comes to mind but we must have done some good right? I believe we visited some less actives and found a couple new people who let us pray with them and said come back. That night there was a special thing at the Church. A 16 kid named Kuha'o Case in our ward is blind and he is a Piano Phenom. He can hear a song just once or possibly twice and imitate it. Oh ya. He has been blind from birth. I guess he is on youtube if you desire to look him up look for something like Hawiian piano prodigy or something like that. Anyway he doesn't have a piano in his home so his grand parents use to bring him over to the church to play the organ. Thursday night was a party to give him his very own piano and release his cd called dare to dream. I guess it is on itunes. They also had the reps from Mormon messages there to make one for him. Ought to be cool when it comes out.

Friday I had DLTM and then stayed down to do an exchange with the other zone leader Elder Molifua. it was a good time. I met some cool people down there and ended up tracking down someone who also sells the doterra oils with the people in Ka'u so I got restocked with samples of Peppermint, Breathe, lavender and lemon. My sinus have been flarring up lately so its nice to have the peppermint to clear them up. Elder Vaikeli set up 3 more of max's friends with baptismal dates for the end of November which was exciting as well.

Saturday I headed up to Kohala ward at the top of the island to do some baptismal interviews. The senior couple up there is on fire. They had 4 baptisms yesterday and have 4 more lined up later We then cleaned up the church and visited a few other families.

Yesterday we had a stake baptism that involved a kid from our ward so we went to support it. It was nice and we had pb&j and mac and cheese for the meal afterward other than that things were business as usual. Glad everyone's week is going well. hope all is well. Thanks again for everything send my love and aloha to everyone. Love you all the Church is true.

Love, Elder Tripp
