Well what a fine turkey day it seems to have been. Things went well for us and we are starting to take off. Elder Ukenio is doing work man! Not so much from the teaching side, but the spirit he brings to lessons just overwhelms people I can tell. We are doing great. I have figured out maybe a thing or 2 for him for Christmas is he always seems to look at my LED flashlight and pocket knife, maybe those would be good gift ideas. I dunno but things are good. We found 4 new gators this week which is always good. 2 of them have dates for Dec 22. As of now those are our only prospective baptisms, but I think we will get a few more. Thanksgiving was good. We had some good meals which was nice. Glad everyone had a good time in the Islands. Jake it sounds like you were fine back home. Good old Elder Hall I like him. It looks like he is starting to throw on the pounds like me.
Anyway pretty normal week. Tuesday we had a good lesson with a lady who all the girls in the ward take dance lessons from. The plus is she has great fellowship, the negative is that there is a small fight going on about whose house she should take the lessons at. We ended up having the lesson and Sister Harris' house and it was solid. We taught the plan of salvation and she was pretty open. Later we headed up into Waimea to track down some potential Marshallese I have been trying to track down for a few weeks. We didn't have any luck finding them home, but we stopped and talked with our recent convert max for a bit and it was good. Tuesday night we had our missionary meeting and then ended up at back at the Harris's for cookies and milk. I assume you got the pictures. They are an awesome family and always make sure we are set. Kinda like the Apuna's on Moloka'i. They are a blessing for sure. Hope you enjoyed.
Wednesday seems to have slipped my mind. It seems like we had some chores to get done. Elder Ukenio needed some things from Wal-mart so we ran down there and then we helped out a few people we setting up and what not for the Holidays.
Thursday was a good day. I decided Thanksgiving is a good day for Missionaries. Everyone wants to feed us. :) we got up and had an early lunch with some members and then cruised for a bit at the church before heading to the real dinner that night. It was a full on American Turkey feast at bishop's house. They egged me on to 4 plates which was probably one to many but hey it only comes once a year right? Plus the pants still fit so what is there to worry ;) Anyway after we headed up to the Church where the zone was having a thanksgiving fire side, fire included. I thought it was a good time to ponder all the blessings we have while roasting the mallows.
Friday we spent the morning down in Kona for our usual district leader meeting. President Dalton made a guest appearance. They were at the Kona temple for a live sealing so he wanted to say hi. After we hit lunch at Costco where the traveling AP's showed up. Elder Hudson was recently called as one so it was good to catch up with him for a bit. That afternoon Elder Ukenio found a new Marshallese family. His name is Kessler and he invited us right in to Pray with him. After we committed him to the 22nd for baptism and he accepted. It was super sweet.
Saturday was the big Turkey Bowl of the Waimea 1st and 2nd wards. They do it on Saturday so it can be a more family thing instead of just the guys playing it was well attended there were 12 teams of 7 plus a fair amount of other spectators. They painted lines with the NFL logo in the middle, but it had CTR instead of NFL. It was pretty cool. My team finished in 4th. It was double elimination style and we just ran out of gas. It was lots of fun and good missionary work was done.
Yesterday we had a mini miracle. So that family we have been trying to track down showed up at church yesterday but they got confused and went to the other ward. We just happened to say hello and they they told us where they lived and we realized it was them. Super cool. They told us next week they would come at 11:30. The draw is that our ward teaches a gospel principles class in Marshallese for all of the Micronesians we have in the ward. It should be another good week this week.
So that is what is happening over here. I love you guys thanks for always helping out and being such faithful writers. Crazy I am approaching just 6 months left. Love you all. Can't wait to talk in a few days.
Love, Elder Tripp
