Can you believe another transfer has already passed?

Well family its me again,

Man Transfer calls were last week crazy stuff. Elder Vaikeli is headed out and it looks like I will be a follow up trainer to an Elder from Kitabus. not sure if that is how it is spelled but it is one of the islands in Micronesia. Should be a good time. This next transfer is only going to be 5 weeks instead of the normal 6 due to transfers would happen on Dec 26th and President wants to get the Elders who are set to go home be there for Christmas since they have already been away for 2. I'm fairly tired this morning so I'll see what I can remember from the past week. We got up at 3:30 this morning to go head up to the top of Mauna Kea for the sunrise. It was lots of fun. The air sure is thin up at 13,000 feet. Yes mom I did get the Halloween package. Thanks for sending the medicine I'll probably get it soon. As for Christmas I am not real sure. I do for sure need some new shoes and would like another pair of the ones I got from Mr mac is that is possible. They should remember the shoe and the size but if not they  are a 13 Johnston and Murphy slip on. Anyway I know some people like to get me shirts. I wear a 2XL these days so that would be nice on shirts if anyone does buy one. Crazy it is just around the corner.

So Tuesday was the big day. I woke up in the morning and out came the stone. Felt a little pressure but not as bad as it could have been I'm sure. I had given up on straining so it just fell into the toilet and I didn't feel the need to dig it out and take a pic ha ha. I just let the saga rest. District meeting was good. We played a jeopardy type game the zone leaders put on went well. After we made a quick dash into Hilo for the last follow up appointment and then ended up making it back to Waimea in time for dinner and coordination meeting,

Wednesday we had some car troubles to fix. we noticed that our tire was getting really bald and needed a new one but they couldn't fit us in on Tuesday in Kona so we had to take it in Wednesday. It took a good chunk out of our day but we did still manage to find a new investigator from a member referral. She seems to have a solid christian back ground but not really religious. I thought it went well.

Thursday we were supposed to have lunch with President Dalton since he was flying into Kona for the weekend but plans changed last minute and we had to reschedule. I seem to remember spending a fair amount of the day tracting and we found some potentials so not a bad day. That night we got Steak and Potatoes for dinner which was great. Been a while since that has happened.

Friday we had our last district leader meeting of the transfer. nothing too interesting to note other than we have 17 scheduled to be baptized in the next 2 weeks in the zone. IF they all hit, it will be the most Kona has ever had in one month on record. So that is mildly exciting. After we headed back home briefly and as we checked mail I noticed the training packet. I figured that meant I would train someone from scratch but when I got my call yesterday it turns out he has been out for 6 weeks and I am just going to finish his last 6 weeks of training which involves 2 hours of companionship study instead of the typical 1 and we will probably do some language study since I am sure his English probably isn't great yet but I am excited non the less. Should be a great time. Elder Vaikeli was a little disappointed but I think he is happy to head back to O'ahu, he always tells me how much he loves the city, Crazy!!

Saturday we helped out Brother McMillan again. The one who lives up on the saddle road. He and his wife were busting out the Christmas gear to get ready to we helped him repair some decorations and fix some dining room chairs. They are having all of the widows in the ward for Thanksgiving. They are so solid for him being baptized just 6 months ago and his wife being less active for 60 years, pretty much from her baptism until now. Its is great to have them in the ward. They also fed us steak and potatoes again. Don't know if I mentioned Brother McMillan played college football for Oregon so he is super psyched about Bama going down and Oregon winning big again.

Yesterday Church was well attended. We had been calling this week "Invite a Friend Sunday" Our ward took in on the run and there were about 8 non members besides our investigators that attended. It was cool! For the talks the Bishopric spoke about their conversions 2 are converts so that was cool. The spirit was definitely strong.

So quick funny story before I sign off. So this morning I made the trek up the 13,000 foot mountain in nothing more than shorts a tee shirt and my slippahs. The is my typical non pros cloths day. I anticipated it being freezing cold, it got as cold as 25 up there, so I grabbed my big comforter off my bed in case things were too cold. I was anticipating possibly the need to jump in the back on the truck for the ride if one of the other cars couldn't make it up and we all needed to squeeze. That didn't end up happening so I just held it on my lap in the truck. We got up there around 5 about the time you could start to see color on the horizon. Eventually some, or should I say legions of Asians came up all dressed in fur lined coats and long pants the whole nine yards. I assume the tour they were on supplied those. Anyway I got out of the truck a few times, but around sunrise I wanted a good shot of that and so I walked among the masses to find a good picture. About this time everyone seemed to stop what they were doing and start taking pictures of the kid in shorts flip flops and a tee shirt up in 30 degree weather, I still have some Utah blood in me I guess after all it really didn't feel that cold. good times. Love you all and hope you have a wonderful week.

Love, Elder Tripp
