Aloha Family,
New Transfer new attitude. Things are really picking up in our zone. We had a 60% turnover in the zone including 2 sisters which is good I guess. Especially since they took Makakilo and Palehua wards from us. Of course they have had a million questions about everything about everything in the 2 areas. Anyway Elder Brooksby is here. He is kinda a ME!! Monster as Brian Regan would say, but its good. He has a solid testimony abd loves people so it is good. Friday night Apuna's called and it was AWESOME!!!!! They are so solid. I guess The Ap's had given them our number. It was great just to say hi. They said they had just been to the Valentines party with George and that it was a good time. They also mentioned Cole looks alot like me, I guess thats cool I've still never seen the kid in person. Anyway lets see what else I can remember from the week.
Monday night we went to the YSA FHE. Mostly just hanging out with all of them playing volleyball and what not . we were in charge of the lesson so we taught a little mini object lesson about the apostasy and restoration. It was a pretty easy night. We had a late night conference call with President and the other zone leaders that was late because President had some things to do, but it was a pretty happy call things were going good in the mission. However we had 20 scheduled for baptism this last week in the mission and only 4 went through so I'm sure that will be on the agenda this evening.
Tuesday we spent mostly saying goodbye to lots of people for Elder Tausinga. Things went fairly smooth. Nothing to crazy though.
Wednesday was the big transfer meeting. It was huge. I would bet that 85% of the mission was getting a new companion, especially because the Christmas transfer was very minimal. There are 5 new zone leaders and only 1 zone leader companionship stayed the same. Kinda wild but good to see new faces around. I guess the big outrage from the Elders was the Elders were removed from Lanai in favor of sisters. Kinda bummed some elders out. Also we have 28 new arrivals in the mission 13 being sisters. The 1st 18 and 19 year olds are here although only about half of the transfer was young. Rumor is that next transfer lots of the young guns will be here so I guess we will see. It was good to see Elder Mafi again, He told me he is hoping to come to BYU-I for school and wants to go down and visit G-ville. I think that would be a blast. He has 4 weeks left. Elder Hudson and Brinkerhoff and I talked story for a bit which is fun as always to share all the fun memories of the MTC and misson life. Because we had to stay to drive the Makaha Elders to there pad and show the new sisters and the new Samoan ward elders to there pads we stayed for all of training meetings and I even got to take 2 Elders, whose companions are on the outer islands, tracting for the 1st time. so that was fun I guess. Wednesday night was spent getting everyone situated. It was a super long day.
Thursday was more of the same. In the morning we had to drive down to the Tabernacle to pick up things Elders had either forgotten or didn't know they needed until they got to their pad. There was 3 white washes so that explains things. Anyway the traffic was insane and then we had to drive all the way out Makaha side and then stop in Nanakuli and help them out with their new bikes, Long day.
Friday we had district meeting and Stake President Taeoalii showed up and gave a few remarks at the end of his vision for us working with members of the stake and everything moving forward. We actually got time to tract and what not so that was cool for the most part.
Saturday we had service in the morning out in Makaha. It was wild for sure a crazy story. Just lots of drugs and Ice in the area which makes for random wild acts to occur. That afternoon we attend at baptism in the zone and then wrapped up the day with guess what. More errands.
Sunday was weird. I didn't know what to do with all the extra time since we only had one ward to cover. Anyway things were good. It was nice to finally have time to take Elder Brooksby around to see everybody. Our bishop ended up in the hospital so if you could remember him in your prayers that would be appreciated I'm sure.
Other than that nothing much more to report. Hope everyone coming over has a good trip. Hope everyone staying back has a good time too. Love you all . Talk to you again next week.
Love, Elder Tripp
