Things are going well as usual here it was a pretty slick
transition Things went pretty solid the rest of the week. Always great
to hear about Utah getting another big bowl win. Hopefully a QB can be
found that can lead a team for a whole season, but overall sounds like
it was a pretty solid season for the 1st year. Our new years was pretty
fun. We went to Apuna's house again and watched Johnny Lingo 2 and then
played uno and watched Fireworks. No big shows go on out here on
Molokai, but aerial fireworks are legal to shoot yourself, so lots of
people were shooting off fireworks like what you would see in a show,
but just one at a time. We also all took a turn with the fire knife, so
that was lots of fun Elder Pincock has a pretty good video of my turn so
Ill get it from him and probably just email it home. We stayed til
about 12:30 and then headed home. It was a pretty fun night.
So anyway things were pretty normal for the rest of the week, I'll try to remember what happened. Thursday we just visited lots of less actives and then had a good dinner with the members. They always feed us so well here its crazy. I'm doing good at running in the morning though so I think I can escape without gaining too much weight.
Friday there was a Paintball activity for the young men that was
supposed to bring out lots of less actives and non members, which it
did! We were asked to give a quick message before it started. We were
hoping President Dalton would approve of us to play, but he didn't, so
we were the refs ha ha. It was still a good time and lots of fun. The
scout master in the ward is a military vet and so he made it pretty war
like ha ha. He gave a briefing on how this was just practice, but we all
need to treat it like its real, since some might one day be in the
military. He divided teams and gave them names alpha, bravo, charlie,
delta etc ha ha. Pretty much the best way to describe him is he is like
the guy on that old Disney movie "Paper Brigade" It was lots of fun to
watch him draw up plans and see them be forgotten as soon as bishop said
go. After we did some teaching of investigators. One just decided to be
baptized and quit smoking so that is super exciting!
Saturday we had to be done by 4 so we got out early and hit the swap meet type deal to visit some less actives and potentials. While we were there some less active members who own a shaved ice tent offered us free so that was awesome! Not quite Matsumoto's, but I still could have got azuki beans if I so requested. We ended up tracting until 4 after lunch, and then went and trimmed a tree with brother Apuna. Next we headed off to dinner for an hour and made s'mores and then eventually we ended up back at the Apuna's.
Sunday we got to sleep in til 8. Thank you, President!. We had Church at 9 so we got up and headed to church, needless to say we weren't the only people who looked incredibly tired. President Dalton also decided it was best not to proselyte so we just hung out with various members until dinner.
Yesterday we went out site seeing. We headed to the East coast and took a few pictures, and then we headed back to Kalaupapa look out It overlooks the Kalaupapa colony (the lepers) so that was kind of fun. President Dalton is coming for interviews Thursday so we are hoping he may approve us to ride the mules down to the colony instead of the hike so cross your fingers. :)
That's what is new with me. Thanks for your emails. Hope things keep going good where ever you guys are! Thanks for everything I love you and Aloha
Love, Elder Tripp!
