Happy Pioneer Day!

Talofa le 'Aiga Tripp

Well I think we turned a corner this week. We still have our struggles that seems to hold us back a day or two every week, but our teaching pool is not so much getting huge, but we are starting to find more solid people to teach. This week the big thing is we are teaching an 11 year old grand daughter of our relief society president. We have always known about her, but her grandma finally came back from the mainland so she can now get baptized. She came for the 3rd time yesterday and we had a good lesson on Saturday so all we really need to do is invite her to pick a date and get it done. The family with the son going to play ball all came to church, and probably 2 or 3 other non members showed up with friends and another part member family who just moved here from American Samoa also came to church. I felt like that was pretty good potential to work with coming up. I mention it is American because the kids spoke really good English and even the parents understand some, compared to Western Samoa where no one speaks English unless they have taken a class in high school similar to our Spanish.

So Monday was just a typical P day nothing too important to share ha ha

Tuesday morning we had district meeting, It was pretty good. The Assistants showed up randomly which was kinda fun. I really enjoy the AP's in the mission right now. I have served around all 4 of them in my mission and they are lots of fun. After District meeting Elder King had a dentist appointment for a root canal which didn't seem to fun. Tuesday night we all met at the stake center for a zone exchange where everybody switches around the whole zone instead of just typical exchanges in the district. I went to Aliamanu ward with Elder Villareal which was fun.

Wednesday in Aliamanu we had some good lessons. I was interesting just to be in an English speaking ward and stuff, I kind of forgot how those things work. Elder Villareal and I get along super awesome and we had a great experience.

Thursday was a good day we met with Sister Niumata the one that came to church with her family. She was doing good and we had a good lesson about reading and praying for truth. It was pretty solid. It is always good to see people make and keep commitments we leave with them. Thursday night we picked up a mini missionary to go with us for the weekend. July is mini missionary month I guess and so it was our turn to take one this week. He was a nice kid, although it was kinda just like dragging another guy around with us for a days. I think he enjoyed it and hope he learned something from it.

Friday we were everywhere it seemed like. Elder King had District leader meeting and so after is where I met the guy from George's ward. Elder Lepule was with us and so he was the one that introduced us. It is nice to have Elder Lepule around. He has really helped me with the language. He teaches me a new phrase every week so that is kinda fun. We traveled mostly in Aiea for the day but we also headed over to more nuuanu side which is kinda on the downtown Honlulu edge.

Saturday we headed down to Palolo Valley which is about 15-20 min from our church. We have lots of members down there and some investigators including Darianne, the 11 year old. We had great lessons down there. and a good time. The weekend sure flew right by. I assume it was because we were so busy which is nice.

Yesterday was a peaceful Sunday, although nothing was mentioned of pioneer day ha ha. That's ok though after all it is a state holiday not national. I enjoyed the talks. The spirit was very heartfelt about missionary work and I found myself understanding lots. I think I am kinda getting to the point in church of blocking out English. Not thinking in my head the English translation but just hearing the words and understanding. So that is kinda cool. I still can't keep a conversation going on very long on my end, but I feel like I can reply in English to their questions. That is such a blessing. It is an exciting time to be in Hawaii right now. As of Tuesday we had between people who already have been baptized and those who have a date, 155 baptisms set for July. Our high water mark is 106 and our goal for this month is 125 so that is really exciting. We will find out tomorrow how things are going, but I bet we will beat 106 for sure.

Thanks for the letters as always. It is always good to read and hear how everything is going. Glad people are doing good elsewhere on their missions. I guess I'll write you again next week. Hope all is well Love you all. That's a crazy story from the Hawaii Tripp's glad it worked out ok. ALOHA and Talofa! Love all y'all

Love, Elder Tripp
